ANNE THOMAS PAXSON

Anne Thomas Paxson was born in Iowa and grew up in rural Nebraska. She graduated with honors from Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska. She held a teaching assistantship and completed Ph.D. course work in eighteenth-century British literature at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. She earned a J.D. degree from George Washington University School of Law, Washington, D.C.

Anne taught high school English, speech, and drama in Nebraska and college English in Tennessee. She worked as an analyst in the research department of the National Association of Broadcasters and as a communications legal assistant at Kirkland & Ellis in Washington, D.C. She has practiced communications law in Washington since 1983.

Anne's legal experience has involved radio, television, paging, ITFS, MDS, cellular telephone, and POFS applicants and licensees before the Federal Communications Commission and the courts. Her regulatory practice has emphasized business counsel to existing licensees on transactional and technical matters, often in close consultation with radio consulting engineers, accountants, and outside counsel who also represent the firm's clients.

Anne is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association; served as co-chairman of the FCBA's Committee on FCC Relocation; and is an active member of its Mass Media Practice & Procedure Committee. She is an associate member and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers.

Anne is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. She has tutored individuals with reading disabilities on a volunteer basis in the metropolitan Washington area and has participated in community service work sponsored by the FCBA Foundation.
